5 Reasons to Swap Your Afternoon Snack for a Cup of Mung Broth

Can we talk about the afternoon slump? Somewhere between 3 and 5pm, I start wilting. And that's exactly when the cookie jar, the vending machine or a third coffee starts calling.

A few years ago I swapped my afternoon snack for a steaming cup of Mint, Lime, Turmeric Golden Broth, and I've never looked back. Here are five reasons I think you'll love the swap too.

1. It actually satisfies you

A sweet snack gives you a quick high and then leaves you hungrier. A cup of mung broth is savoury and warming, with fibre and plant protein from whole sprouted mung beans, so it takes the edge off your hunger and keeps you going until dinner. It's a sippable snack that feels like a little meal.

2. It feeds your gut

Every cup of Moong Pani has 2 g of fibre, because we keep the whole sprouted bean. Fibre is food for the good bacteria in your gut and helps keep you regular, and most of us only get about half of what we need. A daily cup is an easy way to close that gap. More on mung and gut health.

3. It hydrates you

By mid-afternoon, a lot of us are a little dehydrated, and it's easy to mistake thirst for hunger. A warm cup of broth is hydrating and comforting at the same time. It's the kind of drink you actually want to sip.

4. It's ready in a minute

No prep, no fridge, no mess. One spoonful in a mug of hot water, stir, and you're done. I keep a pouch at my desk, and it travels well in a bag or a thermos too.

5. It tastes amazing

This is the one that keeps me coming back. Mint, Lime, Turmeric is refreshing and earthy, savoury and satisfying, and it honestly brings a smile to my face. Not a mint person? Try Ginger, Lemon, Turmeric for a zesty kick or Roasted Garlic, Turmeric for something rich and cozy.

My afternoon ritual

When the slump hits, I put the kettle on, stir up my cup, and take five minutes away from my screen. A few sips, and I'm ready to get back to work. It's become one of my favourite little moments of the day.

Give it a try this week. I'd love to hear which flavour becomes your afternoon favourite.
